Reasons Why Reading is an Awesome Hobby

As much as many people will disagree, taking up reading as a hobby is the most relaxing pastime one can have. Sure a hobby such as building a car from scratch or going to discover new caves is cool, but do they have any idea what they are missing out on when it comes to reading?

Reading is the single coolest thing to do as a hobby, and there are reasons to back up that claim:

Books are available in the millions, probably billions. As long as human beings exist and have the itching need to tell stories, there will never be a shortage of books.

Reading is versatile and can get done anywhere. With the rise of technology (hello kindle?), we can access books everywhere, even when taking a bath. Those who enjoy the smell of a new book also enjoy carrying it everywhere. Books are portable.

Improves your vocabulary and makes you smart. You expose yourself to knowledge which inherently builds your knowledge base hence making you more intelligent.

Everyone considers you smart. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that you are smart when they see you reading. As you absorb all the words in that book out somewhere in a public place like a park or coffee shop, the first impression one gets is that of a smart person feeding their knowledge base.

You learn about all other hobbies. If football is your hobby, you can even go online to read about information on latest tournames such as venues and stadiums for the Euros. All the information you require is at your fingertips. The beauty of books is that they touch on just about EVERYTHING out there. You will get to experience the interests of different characters depicted in the many books you read. You will be able to impress with titbits of information on other hobbies whether you engage in them or not thanks to your reading.

Reading is for everybody. If you can read, you can enjoy the imaginary world created by the many writers out there. As long as you have access to books, bought or borrowed, you can expand your knowledge by reading. You do not need to be a genius to do it.
